Webcam paedophile preyed on US girls

A man who persuaded young girls in the US to perform sex acts on webcams has been jailed.

Mark Noyes, 46, of Winkleigh, Devon was jailed for five years for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and making or possessing indecent images.

Police tracked Noyes down after the family of a victim raised the alarm.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the case showed that “wherever victims are”, offenders would be found. The force thanked its US counterparts.

Hid identity

Meat factory worker Noyes used internet chat rooms to groom girls as young as 12 to perform sex acts for him on camera, Exeter Crown Court was told.

Detectives believe he abused at least five girls in different US states after meeting them on the same website, where he hid his identity behind a cartoon avatar.

Det Con Glenn Boniface said after the case that it had involved a two-year “detailed investigation” between the force and law enforcement agencies in the United States.

He thanked Lt Robbie Broussard from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and officers from the Devon Child Exploitation Team who led the enquiry.

“Mark Noyes was a manipulator who persuaded young girls to carry out acts for his own sexual gratification,” he said.

Matthew Etre of the HSI said: “The targeting of individuals who exploit children and prey on our children is one of our top priorities and anyone who thinks they can get away with it is mistaken.”
