A FORMER teacher denied 47 counts of sexual abuse involving young boys over a period of 21 years when he appeared at Manchester city magistrates’ court.

Alan Morris, 63, was accused of indecently assaulting the boys while they were pupils at St Ambrose College in Hale Barnes between 1973 – 1994.

At the time all the 29 pupils were under 16 said prosecutor Miss Elisa Hopley.

Mr Morris of Rivington Road, Hale, was sent on bail to Manchester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on August 15.

He was charged with 41 counts of indecent assault, 5 alleging gross indecency, and outraging public decency.

Mr Morris only spoke to confirm his name and address and deny the charges against him.

The prosecution raised no objection to bail but he was ordered to stay away from prosecution witnesses and not to have unsupervised contact with children under 18.
