A man has appeared before magistrates to face a long list of sex offences, including four rapes, committed in Haverhill.
Alan Sharpe, aged 62, from Farford Field in Great Cornard appeared at West Suffolk Magistrates Court in Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday (July 30) to face a total of 12 charges for offences dating back to the early and mid-1980s, all at a residential address in Haverhill.
He is accused of committing six indecent assaults on a girl aged under 14 between the dates of October 31, 1981 and October 30, 1986.
Of the alleged assaults two took place between October 31, 1981 and October 30, 1982, one happened between October 31, 1982 and October 30, 1983 and another between the dates of October 31, 1981 and September 15, 1985.
He is also alleged to have indecently assaulted agirl on one occasion between October 31, 1983 and September 15, 1985 and also on one occasion between September 16, 1985 and October 30, 1986.
Sharpe is also alleged to have raped a girl while she was under 16 on four separate occasions, all in a two year period.
The first rape was allegedly committed between October 31, 1985 and October 30, 1986.
The remaining three incidents of rape are all alleged to have taken place between October 31, 1985 and October 30, 1987.
In addition Sharpe faces two charges of inciting agirl to commit an act of gross indecency while she was under the age of 14.
Both offences are alleged to have taken place between October 31, 1983 and October 301, 1985.
Sharpe was ordered to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, August 8 where he is will be committed for trial. No pleas were entered and he received conditional bail.
