Metropolitan Police charged Lincolnshire Councillor with sexual offences

The Metropoitan Police have released the following information about East Lindsey Councillor Philip Leivers, who has been charged with 22 counts of sexual abuse.

Phillip Steven Leivers, 75, of Chapel St Leonards, Skegness, Lincolnshire, was on 6 August charged with: eight counts of rape contrary to section 1(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956, six counts of gross indecency with a child contrary to section 1(1) of the Indecency with Children Act 1960, and eight counts of inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency contrary to section 1(1) of the Indecency with Children Act 1960.He has been bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on the morning of 14 October.

Councillor resigns after being charged with sexual abuse

East Lindsey Council has just confirmed Councillor Philip Leiver has resigned from the Council within the last ten minutes.

The former Chapel St Leonard’s Councillor faces 22 sexual abuse charges.
