A TANYGRISIAU man who pleaded guilty to making and possessing indecent images of children has been run out of his home by angry parents.
Residents in the area were outraged to discover that Nigel Batterham, 56, of Cwmorthin Road had appeared in court and pleaded guilty to five charges of making and possessing indecent images of children and having extreme pornographic images.
He was handed an eight-month prison term, suspended for two years, and must register as a sex offender for seven years. Following his sentencing, there have been angry scenes outside Batterham’s home. Police were called after windows of a car were smashed and when a group of protesters appeared outside his house demanding he leave the town.
Tracy Hughes, who organised the protest, said she no longer feels safe living in Blaenau Ffestiniog. She said:
“I’m absolutely disgusted we weren’t aware that there was a paedophile living down the road from us this whole time. “There is a park and school just down the road so to have him living here is just wrong.”
