Man jailed over child sexual exploitation

Published October 24, 2014 by misty534

A sixth man has been jailed for his role in the sexual exploitation of a child in Staffordshire.

41 year old Nasir Ahmed of Rangemore Street, Burton-on-Trent, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison plus four years on extended licence at Stafford Court, after being found guilty of four counts of rape of a child under 13.

Ahmed was also sentenced to the following to run concurrently with the above 16-year term

4 years for 1 count of sexual assault on a child under 13
5 years for 1 count of sexual assault on a child under 13
2 years for 1 count of sexual assault on a child over 13
2 years for 1 count of allowing a child under 13 to watch a sexual act

This follows a hearing on Friday 18 July when five men from Burton were jailed for a total of 23 years for committing child exploitation offences.

The men were found guilty after a two-week trial at Stafford Crown Court in May. The trial followed a lengthy investigation by Staffordshire Police’s Child Exploitation Team concerning activity that took place in the Burton area between October 2012 and May 2013 involving the same victim.  This latest hearing means that six men have been sentenced to a total of 52 years as a result of the investigation.

The men were arrested in Burton between 10 October 2013 and January 2014. A seventh suspect, a 17-year-old male from Burton, received a conditional youth caution for inciting sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 and was referred to the Youth Offending Team.

Chief Inspector Steve Maskrey, East Staffordshire Local Policing Team Commander, said: “We welcome the sentence handed out today, it reflects the despicable crimes committed by these individuals.

“While today sees the conclusion of the criminal justice process, we recognise that the victim will be affected for the rest of her life.

“We commend her absolute bravery and our role is to work with partners to offer her continued support. Victims of cases like this need to remain anonymous and we must stress how important it is for her privacy to be protected so she can begin to move on and by law victims of cases like this are guaranteed lifetime anonymity.

“The protection and care of vulnerable young people in Staffordshire is of utmost importance to us and something every officer seeks to ensure.

“These men, who acted in a predatory way and sought out a vulnerable young girl to abuse her, have been brought to justice. Their actions are inexcusable and the fact they show no remorse only highlights the sinister individuals we’re dealing with.

“Victims can be reassured that we take reports of child exploitation extremely seriously and we will always thoroughly investigate them. If you have any concerns about a child being exploited or abused please contact Staffordshire Police on 101.”

Coventry paedophile who raped young girls jailed for 22 years

Published May 8, 2013 by misty534

Judge imposes extended sentence on pervert William Smith of Courthouse Green meaning he will be on licence until he is 85

A self-confessed Coventry paedophile who targeted vulnerable girls to rape and abuse for his own ‘perverse sexual gratification’ has been jailed for a total of 22 years.

And because it is believed pervert William Smith will still pose a risk to children, a judge ordered that he will have to remain on licence for an extended period after his release.

The crown court at Leamington heard that Smith continues to deny raping and indecently assaulting a young Bedworth girl, although he pleaded guilty to offences against four other victims.

Smith, 56, of Purcell Road, Courthouse Green, Coventry, had pleaded not guilty to three charges of raping the girl and seven of indecently assaulting her at her Bedworth home.

But Smith, who admitted raping or attempting to rape three other girls and indecently assaulting a fourth, was convicted following a trial in December.

Jailing Smith, Judge Richard Griffith-Jones imposed an extended sentence, which means he will be on licence until he is 85, and ordered him to register as a sex offender for life.

The judge told him: “You seemed to be able to identify and befriend parents of small girls who either had some sort of problem or were neglectful or were trusting of you.

“The whole friendship was designed for you to wheedle your way into a vulnerable family situation where there would be a little girl who could gratify your illicit sexual desire, who would not have the strength to repel your repulsive advances.

“You got a perverse sexual gratification from taking innocence away from little girls.

“There is no doubt in my mind that you are a dangerous paedophile. You pose a significant risk of committing similar offences in the future.”

Of the Bedworth victim, Judge Griffith-Jones said: “You effectively imprisoned that girl so you could have sex with her whenever you wanted.

“You raped her many times, and she is not the only victim. But you at least admitted your crimes in relation to the other little girls, and in two instances made admissions before the police had any other evidence.”

At the resumed hearing prosecutor Glyn Samuel said Smith had been convicted of indecent assault when he was a juvenile in 1973 and in 1999 when he indecently assaulted two girls while babysitting.

And he had now admitted raping and attempting to rape one of those girls in the mid-90s, as well as raping another girl and attempting to rape a third.

Kristina Montgomery QC, defending, said: “This man will no doubt serve a substantial period in custody, after which he will be of pensionable age, and one anticipates the risk he poses will diminish.”

Plumstead paedophile Patrick Ryan convicted of Blackheath rapes 40 years ago

Published April 30, 2013 by misty534

A PLUMSTEAD paedophile has been found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting two young sisters in the 1970s after the victims came forward nearly 40 years later.

Patrick Ryan, 64, of Ancona Road, was convicted of four counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape and seven counts of indecent assault by a Woolwich Crown Court jury today [Apr 30].

Ryan, who then lived in Coleraine Road, Blackheath, violently abused the two primary schoolchildren at his flat over a number of years.

His victims were just seven and nine when the assaults started in 1973 and they have been praised by police for “courageously” seeking justice in late 2011.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Joanne Crockford said: “The victims were only seven and nine when they were subjected to numerous violent sexual assaults and rapes by Ryan.

“He took advantage of their age and extreme vulnerability and abused them for his own sexual gratification.

“The victims should be commended for coming forward, even though these offences occurred some 40 years ago.”

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Thomas, of the Met Police’s Sapphire command, which investigates sexual offences, added: “The ordeal these two women went through as young children was horrific and traumatising.

“To come forward after so long must have taken extreme courage and their determination to see justice has resulted in Ryan’s conviction.

“Ryan is a convicted paedophile who will now be monitored for the rest of his life as a registered sex offender.”

Ryan, who denied the charges, will be sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on May 31.

Judge ‘haunted’ by the face of Burnley rapist’s schoolboy victim

Published April 30, 2013 by misty534

A PERVERT who raped a schoolboy has been locked up for six and a half years.

Charles Hodgson, 21, sexually assaulted his frightened victim, got him to take part in sex acts and then raped him at a house in Burnley.

As he handed down the jail sentence at Preston Crown Court yesterday, Judge Christopher Cornwall told the defendant he had been haunted by the face of the young victim.

Judge Cornwall said: “This is an extremely worrying case. I feared the jury might be haunted by the boy’s face for some time to come.

“As it so turns out, I have been.”

Hodgson, of Thurston Street, Burnley, had denied one charge of sexual assault, two of causing someone to engage in sexual activity without their consent, plus a charge of rape.

He had been convicted following a trial at Burnley Crown Court. He was aged 20 at the time he carried out his offences last June.

The court heard that in a victim impact statement the boy said he was struggling to deal with and accept what had happened to him.

The boy had said: “He made me feel so scared. I felt I couldn’t do anything to stop him.”

The youngster had felt ‘angry’ about the questions put to him in his evidence at court. “He was trying to make me out to be the liar,” he said.

He had got help from the police to try to put into words, in his statement, how he felt.

The judge called his personal victim statement ‘a remarkably eloquent account of the turmoil that descends upon the innocent victim of a sexual assault’.

The judge felt the defendant had been rightly convicted by the jury.

The trial had heard that Hodgson had sexually assaulted his victim, got him to take part in sex acts and then raped him.

Hodgson told the boy not to tell anyone what had happened. But the following day he told two female school friends what had taken place.

One had told her mother and police were called after the boy’s teacher took him to one side at his school in Burnley and asked him what had happened.

Mr Richard Dawson, defending, said: “He doesn’t accept the conviction of the jury, but he does accept and recognise that Your Honour must pass sentence today.

“He understands that only an immediate sentence of imprisonment will follow.

“He is someone who is unsophisticated and relatively immature for his age”.

The defendant will be on the sex offenders register for life and subject to a sexual offences prevention order for five years, which bars him from having unsupervised contact with any child under 16.

Cardiff man jailed for raping and terrorising schoolgirl has sentence increased at London’s Appeal Court

Published April 27, 2013 by misty534

Former publican, was jailed for nine years at Newport Crown Court in January after he was convicted of two rapes and counts of indecent assault.

A Cardiff sex predator, imprisoned for raping and terrorising a schoolgirl, had his “unduly lenient” sentence dramatically increased by top judges today.

Colin Denton, 55, attacked the vulnerable girl in her own bedroom, London’s Appeal Court heard, pinning her down by her arms before forcing himself upon her.

He threatened her with dire consequences if she complained and the victim was forced into a degrading sex act while in Denton’s car, Lord Justice Pitchford told the court.

The girl was left profoundly traumatised and was for years plagued by recurring panic attacks, flashbacks and nightmares while she fought to come to terms with what Denton did to her.

The attacks dated back more than a decade but the girl only found the courage to confront her past and go to the police two years ago. Her youth had been “ruined” by Denton, said the judge.

Denton, a former publican, was jailed for nine years at Newport Crown Court in January after he was convicted of two rapes and counts of indecent assault.

His case reached the Appeal Court as lawyers representing the Attorney-General, Dominic Grieve QC, attacked the sentence as “unduly lenient” and nowhere near tough enough for his appalling crimes.

Lawyers for Denton , of College Road, Llandaff,  pleaded with the court not to up his jail term, pointing to his “cocktail” of health problems – including chronic chest pain and a bad back.

But Lord Justice Pitchford, sitting with Mr Justice Royce and Mr Justice Turner, noted that Denton had declined work inside prison, preferring to “watch TV in his cell, read books and do the crossword”.

The judge said there was little mitigation in Denton’s favour and agreed that the nine-year term was “manifestly” too light. Denton’s sentence was increased to 12 years.

Jail for sex with vulnerable child

Published April 19, 2013 by misty534

A man who had sex with a vulnerable girl has been jailed for eight years.

Martin Baxter, of Boyslade Road, Burbage, had denied two charges of sexual activity with a child, but was convicted by a jury at Coventry Crown Court.

Jailing the 46-year-old, Judge Richard Griffith-Jones said: “She was a vulnerable person, and the damage to her is just terrible.”

Prosecutor Anthony Potter said Baxter, who committed the offences while living in Nuneaton, first had sex with the girl when she was 13, and again when she was 14 – without using any protection.

he girl feared she might have become pregnant.

When she told Baxter, he went with her to a walk-in health clinic where staff were told she’d had sex with a boy whose condom had come off. Baxter sent the girl a series of text messages, trying to get her to continue their “relationship”.

When his offences came to light and he was arrested in October 2011, he denied any sexual activity with the girl.

The jury convicted Baxter of two offences, but cleared him of four further sexual allegations relating to the same girl.

Thanking the jury, Judge Griffith-Jones told them: “It has been a serious and disturbing case. It is clearly a case where a custodial sentence, and one of some length, will be passed.”

Robert Hodgkinson, defending, said: “There was no hint of coercion or compulsion or threats. It was a romance.”

Mr Hodgkinson told the court the offences had contributed to the end of Baxter’s marriage. He said Baxter was “not a predatory monster who has behaved in this way towards other children”.

Sentencing Baxter, Judge Griffith-Jones said: “You formed a sexual relationship with her.

“Any reading of the text exchanges demonstrate that, in many ways, you were more needy than she was, in an emotional sense.

“But you cannot have been unaware of the damage you were going to inflict on that girl by beginning a sexual relationship with her.

“She was already vulnerable and mixed-up.

“I very much fear you have set her on a course in life from which she may never recover.”

The judge also made Baxter subject to a sexual offences prevention order for 15 years, restricting his unsupervised contact with any child under 15, apart from his own children.

Ipswich: Child rapist Leo Gordon sentenced to 18-years in prison

Published April 16, 2013 by misty534

A CHILD rapist is today beginning an 18-year jail term after he was convicted of a string of “horrific” sex offences against two young girls.

Leo Gordon, of Morland Road, Ipswich, was sentenced yesterday after a jury at Norwich Crown Court found him guilty of ten charges.

The 34-year-old had denied six offences of rape relating to a female child, two sex assaults on a girl and two offences of assault on a child.

During yesterday’s hearing the court was told Gordon had admitted two further charges of rape relating to a child, when he appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on May 11 last year.

Sentencing Gordon, Judge Mark Lucraft said: “This is a pretty horrific case and the facts are even more horrendous.

“You are someone who is keen to avoid the consequences of what you did.”

Judge Lucraft said Gordon’s crimes had left a “deep impact” on his victims – two girls under the age of 14.

Gordon was sentenced to 18 years for each count of rape, four years for each count of sexual assault and six years for the two charges of assault on a child. He was also sentenced to 12 years for the two rape charges he had previously admitted at Ipswich Crown Court.

The sentences will run concurrently, meaning Gordon will serve a total of 18 years – half in custody and half on licence.

He was also made subject to an indefinite Sexual Offence Prevention Order, a restraining order, and a disqualification order.

Suffolk police Detective Constable Kay Laney, who was the officer in the case, said: “We are pleased to see that such a lengthy sentence was handed to Mr Gordon.

“This was a very serious case and the sentence sends out a strong message that if you commit offences of this nature you will face a considerable time behind bars.”

Linthwaite man jailed over child porn after chatroom allegations

Published April 12, 2013 by misty534

POLICE discovered indecent images of children on a man’s computer after “intelligence” showed he had been talking about child abuse in chatrooms.

Derek Horne was spoken to after suggestions he had been involved in discussions covering preferences for children under 10, kidnapping a child, raping children and snuff movies, Leeds Crown Court was told yesterday.

Horne admitted he was the account holder for the e-mail address concerned and agreed he had been sent some indecent images by “Instagram” but had not gone looking for them, Ewan McLachlan, prosecuting, told the court.

Horne, 36, of Gilroyd Lane, Linthwaite, said he had been depressed for about a year due to various circumstances and had indulged in the chat, but only out of fantasy because the sexual abuse of children disgusted him.

Mr McLachlan said 108 indecent images were found on Horne’s laptop, of which 58 were at the most serious level four and five.

David McGonigal, representing Horne, said at the time he was depressed after a long term relationship ended which had left him with debts and led to the loss of the house where he was then living.

His emotions were very unstable at the time and was truly remorseful for becoming involved in the way he had. It was the first time he had ever been in trouble.

Horne, admitted 10 charges of making indecent images of children and was jailed for 12 months.

He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Recorder James Hill QC said the images were against a background of “chatting and discussing the type of actions depicted in the more serious images and that is an aggravating factor.”

Paedophile Bromley PCSO Billy Wheatley from Sidcup jailed for child sex offences

Published April 11, 2013 by misty534

A “DESPICABLE” former Bromley PSCO from Sidcup who secretly filmed himself sexually assaulting children has been jailed for five years.

Billy Wheatley, 25, of Woodlands Avenue, was found to have amounted 69,000 vile indecent photographs of children when he was arrested on September 13 last year.

A more detailed examination of his computer led officers from the Met’s paedophile unit to discover mobile phone footage of a girl aged around five or six being sexually assaulted by Wheatley.

As detectives continued to investigate, they found a further nine movies of young children that appeared to be taken by Wheatley wearing a secret camera.

This discovery led to detectives arresting Wheatley on November 23. During an interview he told officers who the young girl in the film was and admitted assaulting her on two occasions.

He also admitted assaulting the girl’s older brother, who was aged 13 or 14 at the time.

Officer later found that Wheatley had continued to access and make indecent images of children whilst he had been on bail after his initial arrest.

On February 19, Wheatley admitted one count of indecent assault, two counts of assault on a child, sexual assault on a child and voyeurism.

He also pleaded guilty to three counts of taking indecent photos of a child and 10 counts of making indecent photos of a child, including some at the most severe level.

Wheatley has since resigned from his position as a PCSO.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Andrew Gattase said: “As a PCSO Wheatley was in a position of trust and had a responsibility to his local community.

“Instead he abused that position to take part in despicable crimes, an urge he couldn’t control even after he had been arrested and bailed.

“It is highly likely there are further victims of Wheatley who we don’t know about and I would urge them to come forward and contact us.”

He added: “I am pleased the dedicated and tireless work of the Met’s paedophile unit has put an end to the activities of Wheatley.

“This case also shows the Met’s commitment to ensuring those who commit crime are dealt with thoroughly and rooted out from the organisation.”

Wheatley was sentenced to a total of five-and-a-half-years.

Detectives from the Met’s paedophile unit now hope the publishing of this photograph of Wheatley will encourage further victims to come forward.

Further victims or anyone with information is asked to call 020 71613 770 or 07827 936642.
