Tobias Tobin jailed over child sex images

A SEX offender who got a girl to make pornographic photos of herself and send them to him has been jailed.

Paul Cleasby, prosecuting, said the 13-year-old York girl initially refused to do as Tobias Robert Tobin asked her, but after he repeatedly pressed her, agreed to send him 15 photographs, one of which police later categorized as at the highest but one level on the scale used to assess illegal sexual pictures of children. The pictures were for his own use.

Detectives also found evidence on his home computer that he had been looking for extreme pornographic images and going on websites with sexual images of children.

Teesside Crown Court heard the girl had had sexual experiences with other men as well as Tobin and as a result now had mental health problems.

Tobin, of Woodhill View, Wetherby, pleaded guilty to one charge of inciting a child to perform a sex act, one of involving a child in porngraphy, and three charges of possesing sexual images of children.

He was jailed for 15-months, made subject to a sexual offences prevention order restricting his use of the internet and put on the sex offenders’ register, both for ten years, and banned from working with children.

The Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst, said Tobin bore some of the responsibility for the girl’s current state. He also said: “It is clear these requests you made were for your sexual benefit. You had, for whatever reason developed an interest in child pornography.”

Mark Thompson, defending, said Tobin had only contacted the girl online and had never met her. The period when he had exchanged sexual text messages was effectively limited to a two-week period in January 2012 when he had been 21.

He was a “very immature” young man who was isolated socially, but was a hard-working man from a decent family.

Jail for pervert who lured teen with porn and alcohol

Published August 8, 2013 by misty534

A PERVERT who lured a teenager to his home with the offer of porn and alcohol has been jailed for three years.

William McNeil met the 14-year-old, who was an acquaintance, in Derby city centre before they caught the bus to his flat in Highfield Road.

  1. Pervert offered teen porn and alcohol in bid to lure him to his home

Derby Crown Court heard that McNeil had been convicted of sexual offences on four other occasions.

The last offence was in 2004 when he met a 15-year-old on a bus and when they got off the vehicle engaged in a sex act with him. He was released from prison in 2011.

For the latest offence, which took place on April 17, the 49-year-old was jailed for three years but has been told he will be closely watched by the authorities until 2021.

Handing McNeil a three-year prison sentence with a five-year extended licence period, Recorder Timothy Raggatt QC said: “Because of your history and risk, I’m satisfied you impose a danger to young boys in puberty.”

He said the sentence he was passing was designed to ensure he was “monitored closely” so the public were not at risk.

The recorder added: “He knows if he reverts to type that, in effect, a very lengthy suspended sentence is hanging over his head.”

The court heard that the boy had asked McNeil for a cigarette when they met in an alleyway off St Peter’s Street.

McNiel then suggested they go back to his flat to watch porn.

The boy agreed and McNiel paid for his bus fare and then gave him a bottle of beer.

At his flat, McNeil played pornographic material and then asked to perform a sex act on him, said prosecutor Martin Hurst.

The boy then fled the flat.

In court, McNeil admitted inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Balraj Bhatia, in mitigation, said: “This was not predatory behaviour – it was a chance meeting.

“There were no threats, no use of violence and when he tried to leave he did not try to stop him.”

Mr Bhatia said McNeil saw himself as much a victim because of experiences he had when he was younger.

“He has to concede because he has not had counselling to address the issue, it has grown with him and therefore he realises it’s a problem.”

McNeil will be on the sex offenders’ register for life and must obey a sex offences prevention order for an indefinite period.

The order includes banning him from approaching boys in public places and from entering any educational premises for people under 16.

The recorder said he hoped McNeil would take part in custody in courses to help him address his problem.

Disgraced police officer jailed for indecent child images

A FORMER barrister and police officer has been jailed for a second time for downloading indecent images of children.

John Temple, a father of four, previously had distinguished careers in the Navy, police and at the Bar but Judge Clement Goldstone QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, branded him a “sick man”.

“As your life history makes clear you are an intelligent man and have served your country with distinction but you have a dark side,” the judge told the 54-year-old, of Satley Plough, County Durham.

“You have a perverted interest in pornography, particularly images of young children engaging in sexual activity with other children, adults and on occasions animals.

“You are what may be described as a sick man but there is no name for the illness which causes you to download and store such filth.”

Liverpool Crown Court heard that a computer Temple had owned for just a month contained more than 1,000 images of children – a third of them illegal. The judge said this indicated an unhealthy interest in children.

Damien Nolan, prosecuting, said police who raided Temple’s home on April 19 this year also found indecent images of children in his pockets and on his bedside table.

In mitigation, Ian Harris said Temple had lost everything and leaves behind the ruins of three professional careers.

Temple pleaded guilty to 19 pornography offences, including some in the more serious categories, and was jailed for 16 months.

A lifetime Sexual Offences Prevention Order was made, restricting his internet use and banning him from working with children. He is already on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

In 2005, Temple was jailed for eight months for downloading more than 3,700 indecent images of children from the internet and distributing some of them.

Temple had previously served with North Yorkshire and then with Northumbria police forces but retired after suffering serious head injuries when he was beaten up by suspected car thieves in North Tyneside in 1992.

He retrained and became a barrister in Durham in 1998 but developed gambling and alcohol problems.

His online activities initially came to light during an operation to bust a 1,300-strong paedophile ring.

Pervert scoutmaster jailed for three years for sexually abusing young boys and filming them naked at camps

Published June 5, 2013 by misty534

TAPES found at 60-year-old Henry Calder’s house revealed the scoutmaster encouraging boys to carry out lewd acts and also showed them pouring chocolate over each other.

Henry-Calder

A PERVERT scoutmaster who sexually abused boys and filmed them naked at camps has been caged for three years.

Henry Calder, 60, was told he had used his position to indulge his taste for young boys for sexual gratification and he must face the consequences.

Judge Lord Turnbull added: “Conduct like this brings the otherwise great work by the Scouting Movement into disrepute. It is an abuse of the trust placed in you by the parents and of the trust placed in you by the boys.”

Tapes found at his house revealed Calder – who spent 40 years as a leader and rose to the rank of Assistant District Commissioner – filmed boys pouring chocolate over each other. He also
encouraged them to carry out lewd acts.

The abuse and filming took place at camps in Stirlingshire and Fife between 1982 and 1991.

Unmarried Calder was arrested after a raid at his home in July 2012. Police found video tapes, 8mm film and discs full of child pornography, as well as a hoard of vile still images. In total, he had 140,201 indecent images of children and 4870 videos of children.

Former council finance worker Calder, of Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow, pleaded guilty to five charges of lewd and libidinous practices and behaviour.

He also admitted downloading images of kids between 2004 and 2012.

The beast appeared for sentence at the High Court in Livingston.

Lord Turnbull said: “A collection of indecent images like this is quite shocking, and you were quite proud of and interested in your collection of photos.

“These are vile records of actual sexual abuse of children by adults.

“These were recorded so men with interests like yours can take pleasure in observing the abuse of young and vulnerable children, and people like you must take their share of responsibility.”

In a statement, the Clyde Regional Scout Council said: “There is no place in a youth Movement for a person like Calder and we condemn his actions unreservedly.”

Father Keith Wilkie Denford, 78, of Broad Reach Mews, Shoreham, was convicted of indecent assault last month.

The offences happened between 1987 and 1990 when Denford was the vicar of St John the Evangelist Church in Burgess Hill.

He was previously the curate at St Peter’s Church in Brighton, serving there from 1966 to 1971.

Since retiring in 1996 he has officiated and preached in several churches in Brighton and Hove and the surrounding area.

Church organist Michael Mytton, 69, of East Chiltington, near Lewes, was also sentenced today (Thursday 9 May) after also being convicted last month.

Judge Paul Tain gave him a nine-month prison sentence suspended for two years for indecently assaulting another boy.

He was made the subject of a sex offender programme and ordered to be supervised for two years.

Both men had denied the charges.

Pervert nurse from King’s Park struck off

A pervert nurse from King’s Park who convinced children to strip on webcam has been struck off.

Barry McCluskey, jailed for four years eight months for indecency, was told by a Nursing and Midwifery Council hearing that he will not be allowed to work as a nurse again.

McCluskey, a former employee at a hospital in Glasgow, said in a letter to the NMC that he was deeply ashamed of his actions.

The 40-year-old father of two was jailed in 2011 after admitting 49 offences, including posing online as a 14-year-old to get girls as young as 12 to perform sex acts.

He also filmed children in swimming pools and had almost 10,000 indecent images at his Glasgow home.

A total of 49 girls; aged nine to 15; were targeted by the beast over a three-year period between 2007 and 2010.

McCluskey, who worked at an un-named Glasgow hospital, prowled the Bebo social network site before contacting the girls via MSN instant messaging service.

The burly ex-medic called himself ‘Clare’ or ‘Missy’ and used a profile picture of a young girl .

One of his victims became sick with fear, felt suicidal and her hair began to fall out.

One schoolgirl pleaded with McCluskey that her mother was seriously ill.

McCluskey first came to the attention of police in February 2010 after a complaint from the mum of a 13-year-old girl.

McCluskey, who was not represented at the hearing in Edinburgh, did not oppose the sanction.

He told the panel in a letter: “I am deeply ashamed of what I did.

“I have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life.

“I have lost my liberty, some family members and my career.”

Panel chairman Brian Yates said: “Any lesser sanction than that of striking off would be unacceptable in the seriousness of this case.

“The NMC have to show that nurses who act in this manner will not be allowed to practice again.”

King’s Park MP Tom Harris welcomed the news McCluskey had been struck off.

He said: “This is the very least people could have expected.

“Someone who works in the care industry and then goes on to commit those vile acts and betray people’s trust should never be allowed to work in that industry again.”

McCluskey was given a lifelong restriction order and told to serve at least six years but had his sentence cut on appeal last year.

Man jailed after sex attacks on Tube passengers

A train passenger who sexually assaulted a teenage girl every day for one month as she travelled to school on the London Underground has been jailed for two years.

Plain clothed British Transport Police (BTP) officers travelled with his 14-year-old victim after she reported the offence.

Paul Toal, 59, of Devonport Gardens, Ilford, was subsequently caught red-handed attacking her again.

He was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, having previously been convicted of four counts of sexual assault, two in relation to an assault against a 26-year-old woman in 2011.

The court heard that early in the morning on February 9 last year, the girl was on a westbound Central line train at Redbridge station.

Toal stood next to the victim and indecently touched her before alighting at Mile End.

The victim told her friends about what happened and was overheard by a teacher, who encouraged her to report it.

The next day BTP officers travelled with her and during the journey, Toal indecently touched the victim again and was arrested.

The victim told officers Toal had committed the offence every day for a month but she had been too scared to report it.

The court also heard he assaulted a 26-year-old woman between November 21 and 25, 2011, on a Victoria line train at Oxford Circus.

During the journey Toal indecently touched her, which she at first believed to be an accident so did not say anything.

He was sentenced to two years in prison, was given a sexual offences prevention order and was placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Speaking afterwards, Det Con Claire Sheals, said: “I’d firstly like to commend both victims for providing an excellent account of what happened and for having the courage to stand up and give evidence against Toal in court.

“Toal was a prolific offender and is now in jail for his disgusting behaviour.

“We take sexual assaults very seriously and do everything we can to identify and arrest those responsible.”

A Bedworth man has been jailed for raping an 11-year-old boy after kidnapping him at knifepoint as he walked home after going out ‘trick or treating’ with friends for Hallowe’en.

Simon John Heritage was arrested within hours of the horrific sex attack – after giving his young victim his home address.

And at the crown court in Leamington today, Heritage, aged 38, of Bedworth, was jailed for 12 years after pleading guilty to two charges of raping the youngster.

He had also admitted kidnapping the boy, causing him to take part in sexual activity and possessing a bladed article, a knife, in Delamere Road, Bedworth.

Jailing Heritage, Judge Marten Coates ordered him to register as a sex offender for life, imposed a sexual offences prevention order banning him from having unsupervised contact with children and banned him from ever doing any paid or unpaid work which could bring him into contact with children.

Weston-super-Mare man jailed over 58,000 indecent images of children

Published January 14, 2013 by misty534

A Weston-super-Mare man has been jailed for possessing 58,000 indecent images and videos of children as young as six.

Andrew Coombs’ stash of material was found on hard disks in his home on Palmer Row when police attended his property on an unrelated matter.

Suspicions were aroused when officers noticed a number of computers which linked to an external network. Police arrested the 46-year-old when they found a search for bestiality on his internet browser.

At a hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, Coombs was given a 24-week prison sentence.

The court heard that police attended his address on January 17, 2011. Most of the images and videos seized were on “catalogued” hard drives, some of which were encrypted.

Police discovered a total of 58,000 images and videos, 26 of which fall under the most serious category. Some of the hard drives remain encrypted and have been sent to GCHQ for processing.

Prosecuting, Jason Taylor said the material contained images and videos of boys and girls ranging from six to 14 years of age.

Defending, Brendon Moorhouse argued that only 0.3 per cent of the files were in the most serious category.

He added that the cataloguing did not suggest the material was for distribution.

Judge Michael Longman said he was mindful that Coombs had not cooperated with police accessing the discs. He added Coombs would not be sentenced for what might be on the remaining hard drives before giving him 24 weeks for each of the 16 counts of possessing indecent images. His terms will be served concurrently.

Family man jailed for grooming boy aged 14 for sex

Published December 14, 2012 by misty534

by Crime Reporter Steve Wright

A businessman, who groomed a 14-year-old schoolboy for sex, was last night starting a jail sentence.

Robin Jones, 49, who is married with children, collected the teenager, who was wearing his uniform, at the gates of his school in the Bradford district, the city’s Crown Court was told yesterday.

He drove the schoolboy to moors, where various sexual acts took place between them, before dropping the youngster back at his school gates

Prosecutor Rupert Doswell told the court the boy had communicated online to older men and had met two of them, including the defendant. They had communicated with each other on several occasions before meeting up.

Mr Doswell said: “This defendant suggested meeting up for sex. The defendant collected him from outside his school gates. The complainant was wearing his school uniform.”

He said Jones took the boy on to moors, where they kissed and undressed each other and sex acts took place. The defendant then dropped the boy back at his school gates.

Police were informed by his parents when they were made aware of sex abuse allegations.

Jones’s solicitor, Timothy Jacobs, told the court the boy had suffered at the hands of a number of men.

This defendant was not the worst, nor was he a repeated offender. He feels shame and remorse for what he has done,” said Mr Jacobs.

He said Jones, who had no previous convictions, did not seek to blame the boy for his actions, which took place in November last year.

The initial contact came on a gay website and the profile created by the boy suggested he was 19, Mr Jacobs said.

“At some point it was disclosed the complainant was 14. It should have stopped there, but it didn’t.”

He said there was one mutually-agreed meeting and immediately following the encounter the defendant felt regret.

There were efforts by the boy to carry on contact. The defendant did not do so. He realised very quickly that what he had done was completely wrong.”

Jones, of Rawthorpe Lane, Huddersfield, pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual activity with a child and one of sexual grooming.

He was jailed for 30 months, ordered to sign the sex offenders register and made subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

Mr Jacobs told the court Jones had voluntarily sought professional counselling.

He added: “At the age of 49, a man of no previous convictions, with a family and a business, he has a lot to lose.”

But his parents, wife and children had expressed a desire to stand by him.
